The Alabama Board of Court Reporting sets the rules and regulations for the profession, and requires that all new court reporters after June 1, 2006, be graduates of an accredited high school and take an exam to become licensed. The exam is administered by the Alabama Court Reporters Association. A fee is assessed for licensure, and this license must be renewed each year.
