Court Reporter Schools in Washington

Becoming a Court Reporter in WA

Court reporting is a solid profession in Washington due to the high pay on average and good job prospects. Washington is one of five top-paying states in the nation for court reporters and it is also home to the number one top-paying metropolitan area in the nation for court reporters—the Portland-Vancouver-Beaverton OR-WA metro area. All court reporters must be certified as such in the state of Washington through the Washington State Department of Licensing. This can be done four ways—by passing the state court reporters exam, by passing the RPR exam offered by the National Court Reporters Association, by passing the CVR exam offered by the National Verbatim Reporters Association or by presenting a court reporter’s license from another state that meets the same standards as Washington does. It is also important to get a quality education through an accredited court reporter school. Court reporters in Washington network through the Washington Court Reporters Association.
